Overview

Restoran Tok Neban, nestled in the bustling heart of TTDI Jaya, Shah Alam, offers an authentic Malaysian dining experience that captures the essence of traditional flavors with a modern touch. This spot is especially known for its seafood-centric menu, where the siakap, a prized local fish, takes center stage. Whether steamed with fragrant ginger, zesty lime, or enlivened by the rich, tangy three-flavor sauce, the preparations highlight the freshness of the fish and the skill of the kitchen.

Beyond the siakap, the restaurant also excels in dishes featuring squid and prawns, prepared in a variety of styles—from the aromatic ginger-infused versions to the fiery, chili-laden recipes that are further elevated by the occasional addition of fresh petai beans. These dishes showcase the balance of heat, spice, and umami that Malaysian cuisine is celebrated for.

For those seeking hearty comfort, the fried rice selections are a must-try. Offering a range from classic Chinese-style fried rice with chicken and vegetables to the more robustly flavored Thai and American-inspired variants, these dishes provide a satisfying accompaniment or a fulfilling main course on their own.

The space at Restoran Tok Neban is unpretentious yet welcoming, catering well to families, groups of friends, and anyone eager to indulge in genuine local flavors without the formalities. The ambiance complements the food perfectly, giving an inviting sense of community and warmth that encourages diners to savor each bite and moment.

Located conveniently with accessible parking, it attracts both locals and visitors who appreciate authentic Malaysian culinary craftsmanship. Whether you are a seafood enthusiast or a lover of rich, spicy dishes, Restoran Tok Neban delivers an honest, flavorful journey through Malaysia’s coastal and urban food traditions.

Restoran Tok Neban delivers a delightful Malay dining experience. The highlight for us was the Ikan Siakap 3 Rasa—crispy on the outside yet tender inside, with a sauce balancing sweet, sour, and spicy notes perfectly. It’s a dish that truly stands out. The Telur Dadar was light and fluffy, a comforting side that complemented the other dishes well. The Sotong Goreng Tepung was another favorite—crispy, golden batter around soft squid, though it could use a bit more seasoning. For a warm, aromatic finish, the Tomyam Ayam delivered just the right spice level with a rich broth and plenty of tender chicken pieces. Service was quick and friendly, and the portions were generous, making it ideal for group dining.

All the food that we ordered were delicious- nasi lemak with rice that is actually lemak, and kacang and ikan bilis that is crunchy. The sambal is also good. The roti canai- crunchy and soft with gulai and sambal... Yums. Add on gulai kambing... Power! The Set Fajar- with soft boiled eggs, roti bakar and kopi Tok Neban in classic porcelain cup with crackers to dip. Makes me wanna come again. Hopefully they will last very long at this premise.

Edited review - I was told, night dining is slightly cheaper than day. Haven't tried though. A bit costly. The many times I've been here, it's sometimes unbelievably costly. U might think why did I frequent this place, well...my parents, esp my mom is quite a picky eater...she approves of this place. But really, it's costly. I don't mind paying for their signature dish the ikan bawal but...other than that...ermmm
